BigTrip2011 – Day4 – Buffalo, NY

I didn’t do any riding today (August 1, 2011). Instead, I spent the day with my friend. We spent most of the time catching up, but we still managed to make some time to wander around Buffalo playing tourist.

While we were driving around, I saw a battleship. I wanted a closer look, so we parked in the marina and started walking around.

There was a lot of people walking around with little flags looking at the large amount of flowers along the marina road. We asked some people what was going on. The flower distributors were holding a display for local florists to judge new varieties. We were promptly handed two flags and told to pick out our favorite.

There were many great choices.

We both struggled to narrow it down to one each.

This was my choice:

This was hers:

A bit further down the road was the battleship.

There were actually three boats on display – a battleship, destroyer, and a sub.

They had a handful of other military things to look at too:

This is the city hall for Buffalo. I liked how decorated the building was. I did think it was a bit weird to have a giant obelisk in front though.

It was a great day to spend with a friend.

  1. Yeah the obelisk is a little weird infront of such a nice building. I understand when they are on their own and higher than most everything in the immediate area...... But that?? Hmmm. I'm sure there is a story to it, and of course I have no authority to judge how cities get planned.
