Not Much Riding

Teaching a BRC

I haven’t been doing many pleasure rides outside of taking the long way home from work or to the store. What have I been doing instead? Teaching and working in the garden.

I taught a BRC nearly every weekend in June. It sounded like a good idea when I signed up in February. It was a fun time, but was a bit exhausting not having a day off between my day job and the weekend fun of coaching for so many weeks. The class I just finished this past weekend was a good one. No one dropped a bike, and everyone passed!

I have one more class to teach in August, and then I’ll be done for the year. Time to start planning a trip I think.

It's admirable to be helping new riders and sacrificing your time and payback the community with your knowledge. I am in a different place where I am trying to free up my time and enjoy a bit more of life's pleasures, go riding and explore where I have not been before.

    1. Teaching the course is something fun, but work at the same time. Good luck freeing up your time.

  2. My July classes are starting badly, wit this weekend cancelled due to low enrollment. I thought we might have been the lucky recipients of other class' bad luck a couple of weeks ago.

    1. I'd expect the 4th to be a slow weekend though. Too bad it was cancelled. More time for you to fix your motorhome ;)

  3. Teaching on the weekends is admirable especially while holding down a full-time job. Good thing you guys enjoy it so much.

  4. Chris,
What bikes make/model do you have at the class?

    1. We have mostly Suzuki TU250X now. They are very nice fuel injected bikes. We also have TW200s, DR200s, and GZ250s. My favorite to ride is a toss up between the TW200 and the TU250.
