Motorcycle Parking

I'd love to see more signs like this 'Motorcycle Parking Only'. It isn't closer to the building, but at the other end of the lot away from the door. It also has a nice concrete pad to avoid sidestand damage to the asphalt too. It is a welcomed sign compared to the 'No motorcycles allowed' signs.

Do you have motorcycle parking at your location?

  1. We have motorcycle parking in three of the spaces in front of the building but only from May 1 to September 1. And for the first half of this month, it was ignored by the president of the university who made a point of parking his truck in the middle space. I usually get in early enough so it doesn't really matter and parked there through the winter.

    1. Nice that it is in front, but a shame you have to get in early to save it from a truck

    2. I complained and the parking police were there in about 20 minutes more than eager to ticket anyone for anything...

  2. It's not clearly marked at my workplace but it's right by the door next to a traditional "car" parking space.

    1. You are also lucky to park near the door

  3. My workplace has clearly marked motorcycle parking right next to security, the only parking that is closer is handicapped van parking. In fact, if I'm ever recognized for safety (awarded reserved parking for a month), I'd have to park further away.

    1. Wow. Three in a row with front door parking. A ridercoach recognized for safety? Nahh... :-)

  4. Interestingly enough even though it is not marked as such, it's recognized where our "space" is by the other people at work. Normally there are 4 to 6 of us that ride. Depending on the weather I may be the only bike there but generally speaking there are 3 bikes or so in the same spot everyday. No one else seems to want that space.

    2. Living in Florida allows for a longer riding season. :) So more bikes.

  5. The parking garage with which my company used to buy me an annual pass has a dinky "No Motorcycles" sign on the gate. For the first 8 years I worked there, their low-tech electronic gate recognized my bike. They upgraded a few years ago and the new POS gate can't see anything smaller than a cage. So, "No Motorcycles." I offered to ask the company to quit paying $150/month for the pass and the garage manager told me to drive around the gate and "park where you want." There are lots of unused motorcycle spaces on all 3 levels, so it's not like they are losing space when I'm there.

The last day of the semester, as I rode out of the garage at the end of the day, one of their "security" goons came running after me, most likely to start the "No Motorcycles" cycle over again. Personally, I think motorcyclists should boycott businesses and cities with "No Motorcyclists" attitudes. I do.

  6. My office building has a large concrete pad in front of the building, reserved for motorcycles. It's a blessing and a curse that I can see my bike from my office window.

    1. Drooling on your bike from the office. Nice. Mine is way out of sight sadly.

  7. It is nice to see company's segregating out motorcycle specific parking. Wish you could all be rewarded with close in parking.

    1. Just a recognized spot is nice. I dont need it near the door. The walk is probably good exercise ;)

  8. A few days ago I was asked if I was going to continue using the motorcycle parking since I now take up so much space with the sidecar. I told them that since I generally get to work early enough, I was going to take the adjacent space increasing the number of motorcycle parking spaces...

  9. There is designated motorcycle parking behind our main building at work - however it's normally got bicycles in it and the motorbikes are left around the corner. We get charged a monthly fee to use the work car park but motorcycles don't have to pay, which is nice.
