Iowa To Indianapolis

I woke up early in Davenport, but after looking at my phone to see the temperature outside, I went back to sleep. I wasn't interested in riding in the low 50s. My heated coat was hanging at home in the closet. It is supposed to be summer afterall; it is only mid august!

I left when I saw it was up to 60F and headed east into the sun while admiring the clear blue sky. Beautiful riding conditions. I was prepared with a long sleeve shirt and pants, my windproof fleece, wind triangle for my neck, and all the vents closed on the roadcrafter. It was pleasant.

I spent most of the ride looking at corn fields, so I had to stop and take a picture of one.

When I arrived at my hotel, I saw this SUV with eye lashes. I've never seen a car with eye lashes, so I had to take a picture.

Tomorrow, the MSF conference starts. I am looking forward to it.

  1. We also had a drop of temperatures. Summer seemed to have lasted one month only... The light is also changing already, it looks almost like autumn.
Neat feature, those eye lashes. I wonder if they would last if you drive at high speed though.

    1. The drop didn't last long. Summer returned the following week. It's back up into the 90s again. I just saw a pair of the eye lashes on the freeway, and they were holding on flapping around.

  2. Ha! You managed to get a corn field to hold still long enough to get a photo of it. They can be very elusive :) Like the eyelashes. Since I kept having trouble with the Kymco's headlight maybe I should get an eyelid for it, or at least eyelashes.

    Enjoy!

  3. This morning was the first morning all summer our low overnight temperatures were in the 60's. All summer we've seen low 50's and ever down to the high 40's. Odd to be sure.

Sounds as though you handled it well with sleeping in.

I won't tell you how many vehicles we see with those eyelashes - Oregon would/should be embarrassed by it.

    1. really? I never saw them when we were in oregon. I guess I wasn't paying attention. I just saw my first pair in Minneapolis two days ago. They look silly.

When are you going to get a pair for your subbie?? :)

  4. Our mornings are regularly in the mid to high 40s these days. I finally broke down and closed the vents this morning. If you throw in a little moisture, it starts to feel pretty cold after a while.

    1. yes, those temps plus moisture are downright chilly. Of course I say that now.. give me a couple months and I'll happily have mid 40s.
