Polar Bear Challenge

Thanks to RC62 on youtube, I learned about the Polar Bear Challenge (PBC). I joined up today, and posted my first video.

The PBC runs from Dec 1, 2010 to Feb 14, 2011. It is videos of riders riding below freezing (32F). There are categories for most rides, most miles, and coldest temps. I intend to win at least one of the above categories. Here are the winners from last year.

For rides to count, they have to show the start and end ODO along with the start and end temp. I will use a flashlight if I ride again in the dark. The beginning ODO/temp was quite dark, but the end was easy to see. Not exciting at all, but I did 87km (52miles) at 11F.

Here’s my first PBC video:

  1. Dom: you should compete too. They have a separate sidecar group. I also beat them numerous times on cold. Mine was- 11f. This sunday the weather guessers think- 15f is possible!

  3. Kevin: Why not cold? If you dress correctly, it is just as fun as a warm day. Besides, I want to break my record from last season. :)

  4. Dear Chris:

I was about to say, "You ride in colder stuff than this all the time..." I expect to find you and Charlie6 listed in the Polar Bear Hall of fame.

  5. Dear Jack: Thanks for your support! I know videos aren't your favorite thing, so I apologize for the torrent that is coming.

Yes, Dom needs to get a new camera, so he can give me some competition.
