First Two Wheeled Ride to Work for 2014

It has been a very long winter. I first had my kymco scooter out a few weeks ago for some short rides once enough of the ice had melted. I don't mind getting some salt and slush on it.

This past weekend was the first ride of my SV650 and it was glorious. Unfortunately, it was short lived. Something hit the radiator and made most of the coolant leak out. A new radiator arrives tomorrow. The WR250R to the rescue!

It has been in the 40s in the afternoon and icy cold in the mornings, so the ural has been in service for commuting while the other bikes come out and play after work.

This morning I was able to ride the WR250R. It was in the high 20s, but no ice. The bright blue sky matched the blue on the yamaha nicely.

The weather guessers claim snow tomorrow. It dusted snow yesterday; it all melted before lunch. I hope they are wrong for tomorrow. It feels soooo good to lean again!

Are you able to ride two wheels to work yet?

  1. "Are you able to ride two wheels to work yet?" I'd need training wheels or a side car to get out of the driveway! It will be a while... The bright sun and above freezing temps are helping, but not fast enough!

    1. A shame you are blocked in by ice. Freezing rain now, so back on the ural

  2. Leaning? What's that?

Nice that the snow is finally gone from the roads.

    1. Lol!
Gone temporarily. I guess we had summer already and going back to winter. Freezing rain right now trying to snow some more...

  3. My first commute on two wheels was on the 5 th of January but we've had a mild winter. The salty roads have just about ruined the calipers on my VStrom though. Looking for a new pair now.

    1. Nice! Salt is a killer. The ural has really taken a beating these last five winters. The salt is eating the gaskets and rubber besides all the tasty Russian steel and chrome.

    1. Indeed. Boo. It is supposed to come today, I hope the install isn't too difficult and I can get it done easily.

Hasn't Brad been 'hauling' you on his bike?? :-)

  5. I feel sorry for you having to live with the weather you experience. I do of course realise that you were a polar bear in a previous life, but you must miss warmer weather sometimes. I hope it gets better for you soon!

    1. Someday I will get smart and move. I haven't found a place I would rather live yet though. A few have come close (oregon).

I do miss the warmer weather. I don't like being cold nor do I like paying the heating bill! :-)
