Images from India

In October of 2010, my wife visited India.  Because of scheduling, I was not able to go with her. She visited Himachal Pradesh in the northeast of India near the Himalayan mountains.

She has finally let me share some of the photos she took. She took a few hundred with her DroidX, and these are my favorites. Some amazing scenery and some cool bikes. Which is your favorite?

Thanks to her for letting me share these with you!

Enjoy!

  1. beautiful pics!

I'm not so sure i'd be brave enough to attempt that ladder on the red building. How about you?

It's always very interesting to see other places in the world that use motorcycles/scooters as easy and economical transport rather than pleasure vehicles.

Do you know what that white temple(?) was a few pics up?

Thanks for sharing the pics. that must've been quite a trip.

  5. Awesome pics. Lucky wife! My favourite would be the red and yellow temple with the Himalayas in the background. Thanks for getting her to share this with us ;-)

  6. Dear Chris:

What great pictures! What an extraordinary country! Thank you for sharing these. Too bad you didn't get to go. I was amazed by the first picture of the car on the bridge. Obviously the shot was take on an approaching vehicle on that narrow suspension bridge. They didn't look like they'd have room to pass.

  7. fuzzygalore: yea... that red ladder is a bit scary, but I love the pic.

I asked my wife and she said it was a stupa (3 pics above the monkey). she stopped at a lot of them, so she didn't remember exactly where that one was.

irondad: lol. my appologies to the rest of the bloggers to missed your witty comments. :)

RichardM: looks like a fun place to me. the "rules" of the road are a bit loose... so riding would be extra "exciting"

    Keith: she says "your welcome"

SonjaM: Indeed. That's one of my favorites too. Love the snow covered mountains. The one with the lake in the middle looked like a nice place too.

Dear Jack: Yea, I was disappointed it didn't work out for me to go with. Next time. You're right they didn't have room to pass, she said the other car backed up. They have interesting "rules" for the roads there. The main one I can gather is, the bigger the vehicle the more right of way. The rest is drive where you can fit. lol. Would be fun to ride around in the mountains there. Great scenery and tasty food.

  8. PS: The ladders up against the side of the red building clearly indicate a looser interpretation of the "OSHA" laws.

  9. Dear Jack: looser is right... I hope they tied the knots well!

PS: the red building is the temple pic below the ladder pic.
